Las Vegas isn’t best known for being a family- or kid-friendly vacation spot, primarily catering to the 21 and over crowd. While many attractions and activities in Vegas are designed to appeal to adults, “Sin City” has changed over the years and now offers a number of family-friendly experiences, too. There are even kid-friendly hotels in Las Vegas.

If you’re planning a trip with kids in tow, you’ll want to find a family-friendly hotel in Las Vegas that offers activities and amenities that cater to families. Not every hotel in Vegas fits the bill, so we’ve done the research for you to help you find the best family friendly hotel in Vegas for your next getaway.

In this post, we will explore:

  • Family friendly hotels on the strip
  • Las Vegas hotels off the strip for families
  • Least kid-friendly hotels in Las Vegas

Now let’s check in on these family-friendly hotels in Vegas.

3 Family Friendly Hotels in Vegas On the Strip

What makes a hotel “family friendly” in a town renowned for being an adult getaway? There are plenty of hotels that welcome families and children both on and off the Strip (and a few that don’t—check out the least kid-friendly hotels section for those), but there are a select few Las Vegas resorts for families that go above and beyond. These Las Vegas hotels will:

  • Offer family suites or adjoining rooms for older children,
  • Be described as a family resort on travel websites,
  • Offer kids activities, or
  • May provide childcare or assist with childcare arrangements.

Here are 3 family friendly hotels in Las Vegas to look into if you’re planning a family getaway:

1. Circus Circus

  • Activities for Kids

  • Kid-friendly Pool

  • Large Suites

  • Childcare Available

Circus Circus is best known for its circus acts, Midway Carnival, and Adventuredome. It has offers a nice balance of amenities and activities for kids and adults, including:

  • The Midway: An indoor play area for children that features carnival games, including mini golf and free circus acts.
  • Splash Zone & Pool: Featuring slides, whirlpools, and an all-ages water playground/Splash Pad.

TRAVEL TIP: Check and see what shows each hotel is offering before you book your accommodation. Chances are, that hotel will be advertising their shows throughout the building. If any shows seem less than suitable, consider booking a different hotel.

2. The Venetian

  • Activities for Kids

  • Kid-friendly Pool

  • Large Suites

  • Childcare Available

The Venetian offers large suites for families—some with more than one bathroom! The hotel itself does not offer childcare, but the hotel operator can help connect you with local services if you need to arrange a babysitter. In addition to this, it also offers:

  • Gondola rides: Float along the Grand Canal and take in the sights (indoor or outdoor) while your gondolier serenades you.
  • Pool: The Venetian is one of the most kid-friendly pools in Las Vegas, with a splash pad, multiple pools, and private cabanas. Additionally, they also have a family package that “includes build your own Dole Whip, a tech package for gaming, towel origami, and much more.”
  • Canyon Ranch Rock Wall: A rock climbing wall available to children 10+ with adult supervision.
  • Madame Tussauds: This interactive wax museum is located right on the property, under the bell tower.

3. Excalibur Hotel & Casino

  • Activities for Kids

  • Kid-friendly Pool

  • Large Suites

  • Childcare Available

What kid doesn’t love a castle-themed hotel? On top of the built-in fantasy aspect, the Excalibur offers large rooms—some suites have a maximum limit of 7 guests—making them well-suited to family stays. On top of room size, they also offer plenty of entertainment options for the whole family:

  • Tournament of Kings: Take in dinner and a show at this all-ages live action adaptation of King Arthur. Featuring jousting knights and pyrotechnics, this show is sure to impress kids and parents alike.
  • 4-D Experience: Looking for something fast and fun? Step into the 4-D Experience and explore “the unique worlds of Hollywood’s top brands as high-definition 3-D projection and thrilling special effects place you right in the middle of the action.”
  • The Fun Dungeon “offers over 200 games, including 15 Carnival Midways, 10 Kiddie Land Games, 60 Arcade Games, 10 Sports Games and 106 Redemption Games”

Kid-friendly Pools in Vegas

Most pools in Vegas are kid-friendly, unless they explicitly state otherwise, such as the adults-only area of the Mirage. Circus Circus’s Splash Zone & Pool, the Venetian’s pool, and Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino’s lazy river are some of the best pools for families on the Strip.

4 Las Vegas Hotels Off the Strip for Families

If you’re interested in exploring Las Vegas and the surrounding area but don’t necessarily need the typical Sin City experience, you may want to consider a hotel or resort located off the Strip. They make a great landing spot if you plan to tour around the Southwest and want to use Las Vegas as your home base.

TRAVEL TIP: Smaller, off-the-Strip hotels are less likely to offer and advertise adult shows, and they tend to be a bit cheaper and attract a quieter clientele than the partiers who may prefer to stay on the Strip right in the heart of the action.

These spots are located anywhere from a few minutes away from the Strip to nearby neighbouring cities (max 40 minutes):

1. Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa

  • Activities for Kids

  • Kid-friendly Pool

  • Large Suites

  • Childcare Available

Close to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, the Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa has several family-focused amenities including:

  • A bowling alley
  • Regal Cinemas – a movie theater showing the latest films
  • Cyber Quest – a family-friendly non-violent game arcade
  • Waterfall pool
  • The Kids Quest kids club, where parents can drop their children off for supervised playtime and activities.

2. Westin Las Vegas Resort & Spa

  • Activities for Kids

  • Kid-friendly Pool

  • Large Suites

  • Childcare Available

It doesn’t offer as many kid-friendly activities as other off-Strip hotels, but you can’t beat Westin Las Vegas’s proximity to the heart of the city—it’s located only about a block and a half off the Strip. The Westin’s close proximity means it is well suited for families looking to enjoy the city without constant exposure to the more salacious elements—there is no casino on site and the entire resort is non-smoking.

3. Green Valley Ranch Resort & Spa

  • Activities for Kids

  • Kid-friendly Pool

  • Large Suites

  • Childcare Available

The Green Valley Ranch Resort & Spa is owned by the same management company as Red Rock Casino and offers similar amenities and entertainment, including:

  • A bowling alley
  • Regal Cinemas
  • Cyber Quest
  • Kids Quest kids club
  • Pools, including a popular sand-bottom beach-entry style pool

4. The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa

  • Activities for Kids

  • Kid-friendly Pool

  • Large Suites

  • Childcare Available

Not to be confused with the Westin Las Vegas Resort & Spa, the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Space is located in Henderson, Nevada, 28-55 minutes from the Strip (depending on traffic). While it may not be close to the classic Sin City sights, this is a good spot for families who are interested in road tripping and not necessarily the typical Vegas experience. This hotel offers large rooms and a variety of family-friendly amenities including:

  • Family Zone play area
  • A children’s pool, complete with slide and splash area
  • Lake Las Vegas Beach access
  • Rental office attached to the hotel that offers paddle boarding, and kayak rentals on Lake Las Vegas

The 3 Least Kid-friendly Hotels in Las Vegas

Las Vegas made its name as a party town, and while many hotels in the city welcome guests of all ages, these hotels cater specifically to adults looking for a child-free experience. That may be what you’re after on some trips, but if you’re intent on bringing your kids this time around, skip these spots:

  • The Cromwell: In 2020, the Cromwell hotel became an “Adults Only” hotel. All guests must be 18 and older to stay here.
  • Circa Las Vegas: Circa was the first adults only hotel in Las Vegas history. Circa made the switch to a 21+ age requirement in 2020.
  • The El Cortez: The El Cortez, located downtown on Fremont street, became a 21-and-over property in 2022. This extends from the hotel to the restaurants, which also prohibits minors.

Conclusion

While Vegas may not be the first spot you think of when you consider a family getaway, Las Vegas resorts for families do exist and the city itself (and its surrounding area) has lots to offer.
